Writing Daily Without Burning Out
The system that let me publish every day for 90 days without missing an issue or hating my work.
The two-bucket system
I separate writing into two modes: generation and editing. On generation days (Monday, Wednesday, Friday), I open a blank document and write without stopping for 45 minutes. No editing, no backspacing. On editing days (Tuesday, Thursday), I take one of last week's rough pieces and shape it into something publishable.
The idea backlog
I keep a running note called "seeds" — raw ideas, screenshots, quotes, and questions from readers. Every time I sit down to write, I pull from seeds rather than starting from zero. The seeds note has 200+ items. Writer's block is a queue management problem, not a creativity problem.
The "good enough" standard
I publish when something is 80% of what I imagined, not 100%. The last 20% takes as long as the first 80% and readers can't tell the difference. Published is better than perfect.
One day off per week
I don't write on Saturdays. Not because I'm disciplined enough to rest, but because Sundays are better when I've actually rested. The newsletter has shipped every Friday for 78 consecutive weeks. Saturday rest is part of why.
